‘The Treatment’ is an infectious, catchy, synth driven tune - full of disco- punk passion. Come on, let’s face it; we are talking about a High Voltage record release here - a Manchester based label of quality and distinction.

With a riff that begs for attention, “The Treatment” is an impressive debut from Dead Disco. Laden with sci-fi style keyboards, it gradually buries itself in your mind, and has you foot tapping whether you want to or not. In her mature tone, Hesketh sings, “you don’t stand a chance” – and she’s right, you really don’t. With a chorus as infectious as the common cold, Dead Disco have an exciting sound that makes them a wonderful prospect.

Pouting their way on to the scene like a Vidal Sassoon advert Dead Disco release their debut The Treatment on High Voltage Sounds. You will shake your little butt at the dance floor and clap your hands and say yeah to its pop tones, but pop it is and as quickly as it pops into your head it will pop right back out again - no harm in that!

It's debut single time for Dead Disco, and they're about to smash your face in with one hell of a tune. Blimey! 'The Treatment' is all kinds of ace. There's more cool than even the sweaty masses of a Black Wire gig could amass, and enough hook lines and handclap enducing moments of near genius you'd soon expect other bands to be complaining of someone hogging the quota. A bounding, sneering pop song well and truly off the leash, it's all set to burn down the indie discos without any need for a match.

There is a real energy to this song, straight from the fantastic jangly guitar opening. It's indie pop with plenty of bite, a mature vocal from Victoria Hesketh that brings in Blondie, The Bangles, The Rapture and a dash of Kenickie. Its the sort of track that makes you want to get on the dancefloor, full of hooks and humming keyboards. The guitars grind and sparkle and the drums sound assured. All in all, a great little song.

Once in a while you hear a new band who leave you wide eyed with a sneaky feeling that you’ve discovered a secret that’s going to change the world. Mixing swirling synths with a dash of Spector-esque harmonies, glamorous new Leeds band Dead Disco have ignited that feeling, as they sparkle on their debut single from High Voltage records. Jarring guitar chords punch out the intro until Victoria Hesketh’s seductive vocal begins a morbidly fascinating tale of date-rape. Team Elastica with Blondie - this is sexy, electro-pop at it’s finest, and if the songs we’ve heard are anything to go by, the album will be a stomper too.

'The Treatment' is probably one of the best small-release pop nuggets we've heard all year, all sassily assured female vocals and a chorus to make Blondie proud. Oh, and the b-sides (whose names we're sadly lacking) showcase a more mature sound to suit snuffled-into sheets as much as teeth-grinding excursions onto the dance floor.

Recently featured on Dance to the Radio’s compilation, Dead Disco stood out as a breath of fresh pop. Likewise, this single is a jingly-jangly, jaunty number.

From Yorkshire ! Dead Disco’s “The Treatment” is retro-indie, along the lines of Martha And The Muffins, with a dizzy female vocal and waves of keyboards supplementing the buzzsaw themed chorus. The single's saving grace (and it's a big one) is an extremely smart chorus that eventually gets into its stride right at the end – There’s no indication that Dead Disco pretend to be anything other than revivalists and it’s all enjoyable fun - ultimately that’s what it’s all about really.

A nice little offering from a band fronted by a woman with plenty of charisma. With a catchy chorus and hook, a vocalist in Victoria Hosketh that embodies sass and sweetness in equal measure; ‘The Treatment’ is all upbeat, jerky pop with hand claps and whoa woos like a cross between a Phil Spector girl group and a Ladytron style dance floor filler.

Losing Today

Seemingly running with the attitude that anything sexy that male ensembles can do (and I’m thinking here that recent Boyfriends release) the Dead Disco can do sexier. Think of a DNA cross match of pre ‘Plastic Letters’ era Debbie Harry and ‘Kim ‘Kids in America’ Wilde squaring up to the B-52 girls at CBGB’s with the nose bloodying hair pulling clash being refereed by Cobra Killer who themselves are getting in the odd well aimed kick for good measure. ’The Treatment’ is a rollicking affair braided with a potently nagging jab like Meteors riff and spookily kooky 60’s key trimmings and more woah oh oh’s than an early 60’s summer skulking in Spector’s studio. Audaciously addictive its main allure is the way the drums and bass seem to run a notch slower than the guitar and keys and in doing so create a seductive drag - oh why bother trying to describe it just buy the fooker.
